$ whois
Look up registration data via RDAP: domains (registrar, dates, nameservers), IP addresses (network owner) and ASNs (e.g. AS15169).
About the whois tool
WHOIS and RDAP lookups show who registered a domain, an IP block or an AS number. For domains you get the registrar, creation, update and expiry dates, status codes and nameservers. For IP addresses you get the network owner and allocation, and for ASNs (such as AS15169) the operator. This tool uses RDAP, the structured successor to WHOIS.
How to read the results
Registrar is the company the domain is registered through. Expiry shows when it lapses unless renewed. Status codes such as clientTransferProhibited are normal protections; pendingDelete means the domain is about to be released. Personal contact details are usually redacted for privacy under GDPR-era policies.
FAQ

- What is the difference between WHOIS and RDAP?
- RDAP is the modern, standardised replacement for WHOIS, returning structured data over HTTPS.
- Can I look up an IP address owner?
- Yes, enter the IP to see the network name, range and responsible organisation.
- When does a domain expire?
- The expiry date is in the result for domains whose registry publishes it.
